About

I’ve been a developer for over a decade, most of it on the web and on data: web crawlers, a Drupal backend with Solr and MongoDB, a Python data-import application, an Android app, and later lead-capture sites in Nuxt.

The work I enjoyed most was R&D. I built an automated trading robot in MQL5 for MetaTrader 5, then a real-time trading platform for the web, streaming live market data over WebSockets and processing it in Python. Along the way I learned technical analysis and implemented trend indicators on both.

Today I design and build native apps for Apple platforms in Swift and SwiftUI, and take each one to the App Store myself, from the first Figma screen to pricing, legal pages and support. I’m still at home on the web with Vue, Nuxt and Node.js.

When I’m not writing software I’m usually making something you can hold: a part modelled in Autodesk Fusion and 3D printed or cut on a CNC, or an Arduino project with a circuit board I designed myself.

Experience

  1. Jun 2026 – now Independent developer Apps by Tommy
    • Designed, built and published native apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with every interface designed in Figma first.
    • Integrated HealthKit, AlarmKit, Vision, Core NFC, Game Center, WidgetKit and CloudKit.
    • Set up subscriptions, one-time and paid-up-front pricing with StoreKit and RevenueCat.
    • Localised apps into up to 22 languages, with legal pages in five.
    • Built this site with Astro on Cloudflare.
  2. Oct 2025 – May 2026 Web developer LeadProsper
    • Built lead-capture form websites with Nuxt, Tailwind CSS and Node.js.
    • Turned Figma designs into shipped pages.
  3. Oct 2015 – Sep 2025 Software developer Cylex
    • Worked on the company's web crawlers.
    • Built an Android app with Ionic and Angular.
    • Spent several years on the Drupal backend, working with Solr, MongoDB and SQL.
    • Maintained the Python data-import application.
    • Moved to an in-house R&D project and built an automated trading robot in MQL5 for MetaTrader 5.
    • Extended the project into a real-time trading web platform in Node.js, Vue, Svelte and Tailwind CSS, streaming live data over WebSockets and low-level sockets and processing high-volume market data in Python.
    • Implemented technical-analysis trend indicators in both MT5 and the web platform.

Outside of software I build physical things. It keeps me close to how products are actually made: tolerances, materials, and what happens when the first version doesn't fit.
